Who ate all the pies? Oh it was me!

That’s it I am going to have to take up smoking again. All I want to do is eat and eat and eat and ……well you get the idea.

With the holiday booked to Bulgaria, it looks like there may be beached whale reports coming in from the Black Sea this summer.

On the tech front my faithful Xbox 360 finally succumbed to the RRoD (Red Ring of Death) or three red lights problem which you can find out more about here by downloading the podcast.

This left us with no HiFi or DVD player as being the suppposed techie that I am, I would not have those wasteful archaic devices in my living room, not when I can stream my media direct from my home server to the 360 and get 5.1 DTS sound, blah, blah, blah. I think my wife wishes that I would just get normal stuff, that works, easily.

Ta, da, her wish is my command. I purchased a Playstation 3, which is now having the media streamed from my home server and getting 5.1 sound? oh, well, it is a bit easier. The Playstaion 3 works a lot better with TVersity, the program I use to stream my media. The Folders, Tags, etc that are set up in TVersity actually mean something to the Playstation, so it makes navigation a lot easier. Also I am going to dump some of our favorite music on the hard drive of the Playstation to make sure it is always there (even at 2am when the network won?t work and the party is in full swing – should that happen at any time). I think that the interface of the PS3 is also a lot less cluttered making it easier for her and myboys to find their way around.

I think she would still prefer a €49 DVD player and mini HiFi, now where are the rest of those apples pies I had a minute ago.

Exploring the classical world and half of Dublin

I had my first tutorial today, for my latest course, Exploring the Classical World. The tutorial was most enjoyable and unlike my last course I did not feel that my day had been wasted, quite the opposite.

The one thing that still gets me is why the hell does Dublin not have sign posts directing you to the various areas / boroughs within it? I mean if you are in London you you will see sign posts for Clapham, Chelsea, Battersea or where ever (spot the South Londoner). The same is true in Galway, Paris and I presume (not being that widely travelled) all over. Get some bloody road signs Dublin. I was saved by using google maps and a third party app called Locate Me on the iPhone, not quite GPS but it did the job.

I was really happy to find out that I did know quite a bit about the works of Homer. Why this is a surprise to me you may wonder (as in if I know, why do I not know, I know, you know?) well sometimes it is only when you sit in a room of people with a similar interest or focus and discuss something, that you realise that you have quite a good grasp of the subject.

So happy day (6 hours driving for 2 hours of turorial) then home to bugger up the iPhone with an update, still soring that one so night, night.
